This landscape was inspired by the most beautiful view in the world in Umbria, Italy. My recent trip there was an experience of a lifetime that has me painting a series of works designed to capture the "luminous light" of the region. Turning a corner, I came upon this view outside of the hill town of Orvieto. My fellow travelers had gone back to the car because of the increasing rain but I continued on to be rewarded by this amazing play of light as the sun peaked out from under the clouds and bathed the land in this golden glow.
