 Fall is My Favorite Season

Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, the coming of the Fall season was bittersweet. On one hand, I hated going back to school after the freedom of summer but on the other hand, autumn was (and still is) my favorite season. Waking up to the crisp morning breeze as it swept rows of billowing clouds across the blue sky, the smell of burning leaves, the warm afternoon sun and the blazing sunsets are just a few of my favorite memories of Fall. Bursts of red, orange and yellow color covered the rolling hills as the trees changed hue. Fall also brought the harvest of corn, apples and tomatoes on the nearby farms.
The tragic events that happened ten years ago on 9/11 have added to that bittersweet feeling. It is a reminder of how frail our existence truly is and helps me appreciate all I have.
