I've heard any number of artists who said that they took off their glasses to get the big shapes and values in!
I think Tony Pro is even selling shirts that have a picture of Sargent saying "Squint"! Wouldn't have to do that if they followed your advice (and needed glasses!)

I think it is so terrific that you go out to paint with this group. I know the few times I've joined you I enjoyed it.
