After taking a few weeks off from blogging, I am rested and excited about all the opportunities in the new year. I have just started to get back into my weekly routine, figure drawing on Tuesday, plein air on Thursday, studio work or marketing the rest of the week.
Last Thursday was a beautiful day in Eaton Canyon for painting outside. The sky was a lovely blue and the last of the leaves were just hitting the ground as I painted. This sycamore seems to be resting next to the pond, enjoying the sun as much as I did. Being from Pennsylvania, one of the many things I love about LA is the mild winters. Autumn seems to last for months with the trees finally loosing all their leaves in January. The rust leaves provided a wonderful contrast against the other green vegetation. The reflections in the pond added another dimension. I saw this painting in my mind before taking paint to canvas and am thrilled with the results.

Very nice painting and glad that you can still be painting outdoors.

Looks like we won't be going out painting this week... I guess painters paint in the snow... but not in the rain, huh??
