Sharon at Parker Mesa Lookout
This is where I spent my Thanksgiving. Not bad for the end of November. Jeff and I took a 6 mile hike through Topanga Canyon State Park and ended up at this magnificent overlook. 78 degrees, clear, with a view from Catalina, Palos Verdes, downtown, Pacific Palisades, and north to Malibu, and the Santa Monica Mountains.

Downtown LA Through the Mountains
The hike is moderate with lovely views of mountain chaparral. About half way to the overlook we had our first view of the ocean as it peeked between a V in the mountains. Jeff and I both commented on how some of the vistas were reminiscent of Hawaii. The moon was rising early, visible in the east over the city.

Jeff on the Trail
Being surrounded by so much beauty helped to refresh our spirits and we headed back about 3PM. As the setting sun hit the tops of the mountains, I spotted two deer by the trail. We watched as they disappear into the brush. I am amazed by my good fortune to be witness to days like today. Happy Thanksgiving.
