Kauai Vacation

Sketch of Homes Along the Cliffs in Hawaii

I didn't paint during my vacation, but did try make some sketches as we sat enjoying the beach. The bay near our condo was lovely and I sketches some of the homes along the cliff.

The trip to Kauai continued with more exploration of the island. We journeyed into the interior to see the "Grand Canyon" of Hawaii.

Jeff at Waimea Canyon

As we were driving up to the lookout, I spotted a nature trail that included great narratives on the local fauna, wonderful views without the people or the handrails and a short hike.

Sharon and Jeff at the Lookout Point

After seeing the canyon, we continued driving to the end of the road where there are two different points to view the Napali Coast from above looking down. Wow!! Great spots with views that are amazing.

Second to Last Lookout

As we watched the low clouds formed the shape of a dragon with it's mouth open ready to breath fire. A few minutes later, and the mythical beast was gone.

DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!!

At the end of the road there are trail heads that lead down into the valley and eventually to the ocean. I never got as close to the edge as Jeff but it was another exciting vantage point to see the rugged Napali coastline.

Jeff at Poipu Beach

We also visited many of beaches on the island, snorkeled at Tunnels Beach, explored caves on the north shore, and saw a monk seal at the Kilauea Lighthouse. Oh yeah. The last day, our last swim, a sea turtle came swimming up to me.

Aloha to Kauai.

Love your sketch, Sharon... sure wish I had that much skill.... That's why you paint so well, I guess... You've got such great foundational skills.

Glad you had a good time. I'll see you Thursday.
