 When Will It Clear
Half the fun of painting plein air is painting with friends, so I was looking forward to painting Friday with Margie Murray at El Matador. We thought it would be foggy as we drove over Kanan Dume Road and it was, but when you are at a beach as beautiful as El Matador, who cares. This was the first time I have been to the bottom and actually painted on the sand beach. With the tide out we had a chance to set up and paint before the waves started to lick at our feet. If you would like to see more of my coastal paintings, click on Ocean, Lakes and Streams.
 Margie Painting
Margie was smarter and stayed back by the rocks, but I decided to paint down by the water and had to move twice before leaving as the tide encroached on my space.
 Sharon Packing Up
After painting we stopped at Pepperdine University to see the CAC exhibit, On Location In Malibu, 2009. Margie and I were impressed with many of the wonderful paintings that were in the show and happy to recognize many of the names. I especially loved this painting by Stephen Mirich titled Winter Moonlight. I am again inspired to try my hand at a night painting. Congratulations to everyone in the show.
 Winter Moonlight
Back from our day of art, Margie was nice enough to show me around her lovely home and give me an insiders view of some of her new paintings. She is working on a number of projects and I can't wait to see her upcoming exhibit at Carter Sexton.

I like the painting but it does look like it is foggy. I guess you and your friend still had a nice time together painting.

I had initially thought maybe that seaweed one was the one you painted on this Friday day out but now I see that it was the "foggy" one.
