Friday was socked in even more. With the winds blowing and the fog, I made another bad choice for locations. At noon, I was back on the road looking for another spot with nothing to show for all my efforts.
Remembering the beautiful bay where the Carmel River goes into the sea, I decided I would make my last afternoon stand there. The fog bank was sitting on the distant hills but the bay was visible and the emerald green ocean looked beautiful. The locals were very encouraging and friendly as they walked their dogs along the beach. Many were pleased to see I had picked that spot to paint and all told me how they loved my painting. I wonder if the person who bought the painting is someone I spoke with that afternoon. You can purchase other ocean scenes on my website at Ocean, Lakes, and Streams.
With all the ups and downs of the last two days, I was relieved to have completed three paintings and started on a fourth. Saturday came with much anticipation. It was great to talk to all the artists and see the amazing paintings that were all done in the last TWO days. After lunch I was thrilled to see that both of my paintings had sold. That night I filled the empty spaces with the other two paintings and was surprised to find, a third piece sold on Sunday morning.
Carmel was a roller coaster ride, filled with incredible experiences. I will always remember the wonderful people who took the time to tell me how much they liked my work, meeting so many talented artists, and the beauty of Carmel.
